I love what I do!

This week, I went to a Created By Design meeting, held by Ann Driscoll from Red Deer, AB. Ann is a few levels above me in the Stampin' Up! world and is a long-time demonstrator. It was wonderful to finally meet her and hear her words of encouragement (rather than read them via e-mail).

She brought several samples with her. Here are a couple of my favourites:

July Stampin Meeting 021

July Stampin Meeting 052

I will try and recreate these cards for sure...once the heat wave disappears and my craft room becomes livable again!

I was craving watermelon a few days ago, but I wasn't able to make it to the store in time to buy some.

Instead, I made this card using some scraps of paper.

The watermelon slices were made using circle punches, layered and cut in half. The "bite" impressions were made with the Crop-A-Dile. I used the Stampin' Write marker to draw in some seeds and write part of the sentiment. The rest of the sentiment, "Slice", was cut using the Big Shot and the Billboard Sizzlits Strip Die.

I had a lot of fun with this card. It was easy to make and I didn't have to do a lot of cutting since the pieces were already there!

Last week, the Sea to Sky Stampers and our families had a picnic at Stanley Park. Awards were given out and achievements recognized.

Plus, some great treats to eat and catching up with each other.

Workshops with me!

This past week has been crazy! I held two workshops - one with my sister's BFF, Liz, and another with 5 kids! Plus the Sea to Sky Stampers picnic in Stanley Park. Lots of summer fun!

We did a number of projects from cards to bookmarks at Liz's workshop. With the kids, we made a mini-album called "My Fun Book". It was super-easy to make and loads of fun. Children love to stamp, so I let them go wild!

The Tall Tales paper and Animal Stories stamp set were a hit!

Fun book 1

The books were blank to allow the kids to personalize them with their photos and momentos.

Fun Book 2

The books were bound with twine, and voila, an easy, but enjoyable time by all.

Fun Book 3

Thinking about a having your own workshop? It's fun. I love showing all the cool things you can do with Stampin' Up! Book a workshop with me and receive the new Stampin' Up! catalogue for free, plus earn free stamps and merchandise with your orders.

Read Liz's post at her Inspiration Station about her workshop experience. She loves it so much she booked another one!

Book a workshop today! Give me a call or send me an e-mail to get started on your crafting adventure.

A layout about Holle & her BFF, Chico. My cousin, Jessica, took these photos during a rainy day in November. I love really offbeat color combinations like turquoise and orange. And these two are an offbeat pair. It's truly love-hate.

Manhattan Flowers white

I love my Big Shot! I have been using the Manhattan Flower impressions folder a lot lately. This time, I decided to add a bit of glitter to the raised part of the impression.

How? I used the two-way glue pen and quickly sprinkled the glitter onto the card before the glue dried.

This card will be featured at one of my upcoming workshop. Maybe yours? If you want to learn how to make this card, give me a shout and we'll get together.

I am missing New York. Very much.

It seems like a lifetime ago that I was 19 and living in squalor, but relishing in it. I certainly wouldn't give up my wonderful life right now to go back, but sometimes I wonder what would have happened to me if I was able to stay.

I had made layouts a few months ago about my NYC friends.

Various shots of me and Rebecca during my visits to the Big Apple. Rebecca does it all! She's a film director, actress and photographer. Check out her photography blog and her production/film blog.

She's extremely talented.

Luv U Always

Color Inspiration #56

It has been a few weeks since I did a craft challenge, so I decided to jump on in and start with the color inspiration.

My desk has been littered with little scraps, here and there, from different projects. Challenges are great for finding ways to use up that little piece of paper.

KWerner #56

The patterned paper is from Basic Grey and the ribbon from Maya Road, but the rest is all Stampin' Up! As a demo, I sometimes feel I have to use only SU products, but the beauty of crafting is the mixing and matching.

I Love Vancouver!

It is hot! Anyone who has visited my condo knows that it is sweltering in here. It's a sauna.

This week, Jon and I ventured out of East Vancouver (yay!) and spent the evening at Kits Beach. I almost forgot how beautiful Vancouver is. Beaches and mountains all at our doorstep.

Of course, I took my camera and practiced taking photos of everything.

Beach volleyball players. Gorgeous ocean and mountains as a backdrop.

A wedding photo shoot. I couldn't help but be a voyeur.

Florals in Manhattan

I purchased the 5th Avenue Floral set along with my starter kit in April and I'm finally breaking it out!

5th Ave Floral 1

The patterned paper is retired, but the other papers are current, including the new In Color Bermuda Bay.

I colored in the rose using the watercolor technique and traced the petals using the Stampin' Up! markers. It was lots of fun.

I made another attempt at watercoloring again - this time, using "yoyo yellow" and "crushed curry".

On a hot summer day..

have some ice cream!

Ice cream

I made this card using the new Stampin' Up! In Colors and designer series paper, Razzleberry Lemonade. I saw several versions of this card on different blogs and I thought I'd try it out too.

The card was easy to make using the scallop circle punch for the ice cream scoops and a bone folder to make the waffle indentations.

Eat an ice cream cone and enjoy the sunny weather!

Hostess Oasis Dinner

The Hostess Dinner for my upcoming hostesses was awesome. The ladies did their part - showed up, labeled every page in the new catalogue, played with the new In Colors and had fun.

Of course, the best part of the event was the food! Here are some photos of the behind-the-scenes and the food, of course. :)

Hostess Oasis

My honey prepping the smoked salmon rosettes.

Hostess Oasis 1

A close-up of the rosettes. The smoked salmon sat on a slice of cucumber and dill cream cheese topped with some capers. Mmmm.

Hostess Oasis 3

We ate gourmet burgers - smoked bacon, sauteed mushrooms and onions with butter lettuce and tomatoes - tucked neatly into the Country Living Kit wrapper. I love this kit!

Hostess Oasis 4

For dessert, it was lemon custard with fresh fruit. Yum!!

I hope you ladies had a great time.

There will be another hostess oasis event in the future. If you want to get in on this fun, host a workshop! That's how easy it is.

Simple cards

Loving the simple cards. This is a card based on one I had made during the last Sea to Sky Stampers meeting in May.

This card features the new Stampin' Up! In Colors, crushed curry and soft suede, and a level 3 hostess set.
Tonight, my upcoming hostesses will get to play with the In Colors and make this card for themselves. Yay! I can't wait for tonight's hostess event.

Country Living Cookout Kit

In preparation for the Hostess event on Thursday night, I thought I would start early and begin assembling the Country Living Cookout Kit.

It's so easy to put together! I'm not kidding. Every piece was pre-cut - simply pop out the pieces and there you have it - the start to a perfect barbecue.

Cookout Kit

I can't wait for my hostesses to see this and feast on the lovely meal prepared by my in-house chef, my husband.

Yes, I married a chef! Only as a hostess, will you reap the benefits of not only earning free Stampin' Up! products, but have a 5-star quality meal at my expense. If you want to get in on the next Hostess Oasis Event, then sign up to host your own workshop. It's easy - just send me an e-mail with your availability - and we'll make something work.

Workshops are fun! And FREE!

I have been on a card making frenzy lately. Perhaps because it is much faster than making a scrapbook page.

Here is what I've been up to lately.

I guess I should start scrapbookng now!

My Big Kid

We went to Winners in search of furniture and found a stuffed elephant. Although we didn't buy it, we took the time to sit on it and play with it before moving on to the more "grown up" task of furniture shopping.

Big Kid

The stuffed elephant worked so well with the new Tall Tales designer paper and the new In Colors. This could be my fave paper from the new catalogue.

If you haven't had a chance to play with the new Stampin' Up! products, sign up for one of my classes. If you haven't seen the new catalogue, click here or on the image on the sidebar (please be patient - it's a large download).

Scallops and more

Nope, this isn't a post about shellfish. :)

Last night, I played around with the scallop edge punch. Rather than making a card, I used the punch to decorate the edge of this box.

Scallop box

This box holds the standard A2 cards (4.25" x 5.5"). The box was assembled using kraft and olive cardstock. The top of the box was stamped with large flowers from the Eastern Blooms set.

Scallop box open

Once all the cards were inside, I wrapped the box up with a pretty bow - in orange, of course.

Scallop box bow

The scallop edge punch can be used for so many things - creating borders on cards, scrapbook pages, boxes and whatever else you can think of.

Until tomorrow (July 5th), the scallop edge punch is on sale for $15.99 - over 30% off the regular price. Click here to order online or order by email.
