Art Freckles Week 2

This week's challenge at Art Freckles was to use the following items:
  • Gromlets from We Are Memory Keepers
  • Ribbon
  • 3 Bugs in a Rug patterned paper
  • Bonus item: Scenic Route rub-ons

Well, I only had ribbon and the rub-ons and I made a go of it. The result is a layout about how much I love sweets!

Art Freckles Wk2

I had quite a few strips leftover from the various cards I'd been making. This layout was a good time to use this stash. Purge, but in a fun way.

Thanks for looking!

Just cuz

I love the Trendy Trees set!! Have I said that enough? This set is so cute and my absolute fave in the Stampin' Up! catalogue.

Here's another card to share. This time the trees are stamped in orange. Of course.

Thinking Trees

The patterned paper is from my stash of Basic Grey offbeat.

Thanks for stopping by!

Choosing colors...

Whoa! What's this photo you ask? Last week, I bought a few bottles of acrylic paint to cover a canvas that I bought a few months ago. I tend to hoard scrapbooking supplies - sound familiar to anyone? :)

choosing a canvas color

I painted some paper with the lovely paint colors I purchased and taped them to the wall to see which colors would work for me. The wall is a beautiful "Sprout" according to General Paints.
The brown smudge in the middle of the paper is where the photo/sentiment will be. And, yes, it’s brown.

I’m trying to evoke serenity, relaxation and creativity. Orange probably won’t do it, but I love orange so I had to try. The other three colors are, from left to right, celery, chartreuse and Caribbean blue. No joke. That’s what the bottles said.

Decisions, decisions. Let me know what you think. Leave a comment.

Stay tuned to see what happens…

Whoo Whoo!

I love this cute owl from Stampin' Up!'s Occassions mini catalogue. The owl comes from the Forest Friends stamp set.

Also, in this set are a tree, a little rabbit and a fawn which looks like Bambi!

Here are a couple of cards I made using the owl:

Taylored Expression Challenge #64

This is my first Taylored Expressions cupcake challenge. I've always looked at Taylor's blog and marveled at all the cool cupcake cards everyone makes.

I decided I would jump right on in and start playing with all my cupcake stamps!

Here goes my attempt at this week's
sketch:

TECC64

I used Stampin' Up! cardstock in Pink Passion & Chocolate Chip, Raspberry Tart designer paper. I also used some of my Scenic Route patterned paper stash for the scallop punch cut out and the sentiment. The cupcake was from Inkadinkadoo.

This was a fun sketch for creating a card. Thanks for looking!

Art Freckles Challenge - Week 1

I'm a participant in the Art Freckles Scrappin' With The Oldies Challenge. This is a great way for me to use up all the patterned paper, chipboard letters, ribbon etc. that I have. And I have a lot!

This week's challenge involved using three products that most scrapbookers have in their stash. You need only one product to qualify and prevent elimination. I only had two of the products - Basic Grey patterned paper and chipboard.

Here is the layout:

Bday Surprise

This was a quick page about my birthday last year. Jon "surprised" me with a Coach wallet (I picked it out the week before!) and made my lunch. He's too sweet.

Sneak Peak...

at the All Occassion Card Class!

Mmmm....cupcakes

I love cupcakes! That's no secret. I had my brother bring back a dozen cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery on a recent trip to NYC. They were good and worth every bite!

Recently, I've been on a cupcake card making spree. I have several cupcake stamps and I'd been wanting to use them.

Cupcake rose

This cupcake card was made with Stampin' Up! cardstock, Inkadinkadoo acrylic cupcake stamp and Scenic Route patterned paper. Lucky for me, all the colours matched beautifully.

Thanks for looking!

More Pun Fun cards

Here are the promised "Pun Fun" cards, I wrote about in an earlier post.

I love this stamp set!
Hippo bday Stinky

I coloured the images using the Stampin' Up! markers and the chalks which did not take up a lot of time.

The patterned paper is from Scenic Route. A few weeks ago, I received a package of Scenic Route Sonoma patterned paper and stickers from a contest I won in January.

Here is one more card. Too cute!

Hoppy Easter!

For many years, my family has gone to Portland, OR for Easter celebrations and they still go to Portland every year.

I have not gone for the past two years since getting married. I sometimes feel like I am missing something during Easter time...but change is good and new memories and traditions will eventually be created.

One of our early trips to Portland involved an encounter with the Easter Bunny. Back then, most stores, including the malls, were closed on Easter Sunday. We found this one strip mall offering free photos with the Easter Bunny. How cool was that!

My sister and brother were so young back then.

At the Hop

Remember to scrap those long forgotten photos. Each photo has a beautiful story just waiting to be told.

Color Inspiration

I decided to try the Color Inspiration Challenge #49.

KWerner color insp #49

The card seems somewhat plain to me, but I didn't want to take away too much from the embossed image.

The embossing folder, by the way, is Stampin' Up!'s Manhattan Flower Impression Die - an exclusive to Stampin' Up. If you want to see this die in action, book a workshop and I'll show what it's all about.

Thanks for looking!

Something to share as spring is here and Easter is near.

Enjoy your weekend!

Trendy Thanks

Every once in a while you come across the need for a thank you card.

Well, Jon certainly did, but he didn't want something "girly" or "too much ribbon" or "cutesy". I like all those things!

We came to a happy medium. I made this card using Stampin' Up!'s Trendy Trees - a modern, funky set - and one of my faves. Probably my fave set of the entire catalogue.

This card was CASEd (copy and share everything) from the gallery at Splitcoaststampers - a great forum for sharing your crafting ideas.

Back to the card. I used the manly colours of green (Certainly Celery) and dark brown (Chocolate Chip), tied a ribbon and popped it up using dimensional adhesives.

Trendy thanks

This card will be one of the cards we will be making at the "All Occasions" card class on April 26th.

FYI: My events calendar and online ordering will be up shortly. Hopefully, by the weekend...barring any catastrophes.

Twitter & Tweet

No, I haven't signed up for a Twitter account.

I'm all a-twitter about Stampin' Up!'s On Board So Tweet. I love chipboard. On Sunday night, I decided to create something to jazz our condo for spring.

Here is the chipboard "naked". There are six pieces of this chipboard with various designs. An owl design is also one of the pieces. Love the birds.

tweet chipboard

I "dressed" the chipboard birds by covering them with patterned paper from my stash and painted the legs a bright orange. I attached a large eyelet for the eye. I attached a barbeque skewer with double-sided adhesive to give the birds a place to stand.

Then, I stuck them into our candle display as it was the sunniest place for two happy birds.

Tweet stix

I received the On Board So Tweet for FREE as part of my workshop. Find out how you can make and receive this sweet chipboard set for free by contacting me.

Thanks for looking!

A whale of a time...

Last Friday, I had the chance to play with the Stampin' Up! markers. They are so much fun to play with and it brings me back to grade school.

I spent the evening colouring images from the Pun Fun set (yes - that is the name of set). Expect to see more of these cute critters gracing my cards in the next few days.

For this card, I coloured in the whale and attached it to the "happy birthday" cardstock I embossed using a Cuttlebug folder and my Big Shot.

Whale Bday

This card was made in 15 minutes. A perfect card for a little boy (or girl) who loves the ocean.

Staying in touch

With e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, text-messaging and all the different types of technology out there, it's sometimes nice to receive a handmade, handwritten note or card.

I love giving my family and friends handmade cards and scrapbooks. It's so personal and they love knowing that if was made just for them.
In our busy lives, let's face it, it can be hard to stay connected with all our family and friends.

Stampin' Up! has a great promotion to "Get Connected" throughout the month of April.

From now to April 30th, purchase $50 from the Mini Occasions catalogue and choose any one item from the "Under $12" page in the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalogue for free!

Or host a workshop with me and earn even more stuff for free! That's right - FREE! Who doesn't love free stuff?

Contact me to learn how you can get in on the fun!

My starter kit has arrived. YAY! Stay tuned as I post more papery goodness in days to come.

Twirl Girls

Another layout for the Art Freckles Hippity Hop Crop.

The layout was based on a sketch and had to include pastel, spring-like colors. I like this sketch as it was simple and didn't ask for too many embellishments.

I love this photograph of Claudia twirling. So carefree. Lurking in the background was Holle...trying to attempt the same twirl as her big sister.

Twirl

I used Scenic Route patterned paper for this layout, Stampin' Up! ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue and my Sizzix to cut the flowers.

Thanks for looking!

No Foolin'

Happy April Fool's Day!

I don't have an April Fool's card to share, but this is a card I made over the weekend for the Art Freckles Hippity Hop Crop.

The challenge was to create a layout or a card with a lot of flowers. I had this awesome photo paper with daisies which was perfect for this challenge.

Friend Flowers

The photo printed paper was from Die Cuts with a View, ribbon and stamp from Stampin' Up!

I wasn't crowned "Queen of the Crop", but it sure was fun to play.
