Inspired Crafters Scrapbook Challenge # 8

SSC #8

I am waaaaay behind on these scrapbook challenges from Inspired Crafters. Thank goodness there is no time limit on them.

This is my submission for challenge #8. The requirements for this layout had to include a photo corner and a scalloped border. I used the remaining pieces of the Sunny Scrappin' Kit and put together a quickie page of our visit to a waterfall in Puerto Vallarta.

My goal is striving for quick & simple as little baby will be arriving in 10 days or so. The fatigue & swelling are starting to take its toll.

Thanks for looking!

Card Patterns 57

Card Patterns 57

A very simple card for an awesome sketch at Card Patterns. I wanted to use bright colors with a happy spring theme.

The card is made using tempting turquoise, crushed curry and yo-yo yellow cardstock as well as chipboard pieces from On Board So Tweet. The chipboard was covered with stickers from the Sunny Day simply scrappin' kit. Love how the kit and chipboard coordinate!

Unscripted Sketches # 48

Unscripted Sketches 48

This cupcake card was inspired by the Unscripted Sketch #48 challenge. Although the card doesn't look exactly like the sketch, I liked the boxy design at the side of the card. It screamed cupcake!

A little bit of glitter and the card was finished.

TESC 106

This weekend, I attended my SU! group meeting with the Sea to Sky Stampers. I sure learned a lot, including this vintage technique which I used to create this card for the Taylored Expressions sketch challenge.

TESC 106

Creating this card was completely out of my comfort zone. I like making cards that are quick, easy and simple. This card involved a lot of distressing, layering and embossing. Not quick or simple, but once I started on the card, the process was easy!

TESC 106 - close

I have to try a new technique and a new style more often just to challenge myself.

Thanks for looking.

An Easter Suite of Cards

I made several Easter cards this weekend:

Easter lilies

This card, I cased from Amy Celona. I loved what she did with the lilies from the Fifth Avenue Floral set that I had to try it for myself. This was a quick technique that really just stood out.

Easter card 4

The rest of the cards were created relatively quickly as well. I used a single sheet of the Shades of Spring designer paper and the different shades of purple, orchid and mauve in all the color families to come up with these cards.

Of course, it always helps to be inspired by fellow demos around the world.

TESC 105

TESC 105

A sweet sketch at Taylored Expressions this week.  She always has great sketches. This card uses all the lovely shades of purple and mauve that I had in my collection of paper and the Shades of Spring designer paper.

The "Happy Easter" sentiment is one of the new clear-mount stamp sets. I love how I can see where I am placing the sentiment on the paper!

Thanks Everyone!

Thanks to all who made it to the Pick of the Patch garage sale this past weekend!

There were many great bargains to be had. I was tempted to add to my ever-growing scrapbook stash, but I exerted enormous restraint.

Here's a view of my table before it was devoured by the eager crowd.

Project 365 update

Well, I've talked about it over and I finally have some photos to show you of my Project 365 scrapbook.

Project 365 2010

I wasn't able to buy the Becky Higgins kit, but I improvised using divided page protectors (available at your local scrapbook store) and the Stampin' Up! 12 x12 D-ring album. All the pieces are 4 x 6 which makes it easy to print the photos and store.

Project 365 003

Project 365 002

My process: I have a basic outline of what photos I would like to take during the week. My week is fairly routine, unless something exciting or out of the ordinary happens. I always carry my point & shoot camera with me to capture any moment or event.
I upload my photos on a weekly basis, usually Sunday, and I will journal the events on my pre-printed journalling cards. I print my photos at Costco when there is a sale (like 10 cents a print) and just stuff the pictures into the sleeves. Easy. No other embellishment needed. It's still scrapbooking.

Project 365 004

Is it too late to start a 365 photo-a-day? Nope. The nice thing is that this project can start any time. At first, I wanted to start the project when my baby was born, but I decided not to. This year's scrapbook will be a nice way to reflect on life before & after baby.

In About 30 Days

...I will be expecting my first baby. It's hard to believe that the day is almost here and it's coming fast!

Here are a few pictures from my baby shower last weekend. Thanks to all who attended and to my husband for making the best prime rib mini-burgers. Iron Chef has nothing on you, babe!

Since the Olympics are over....

... I am back to blogging.  I love Quatchi!

The Olympics are over and Vancouver is slowly returning to normal. It's a little bit sad, but a welcome change.

That said, I will be posting much more frequently as there are several projects I want to share. One of them being the IRON STAMPERS CHALLENGE. Look for sneak peeks of those projects in mid-March.

Also, I'll share a bit of my Project 365 in the upcoming days. I'm loving this form of scrapbooking. A photo-a-day and not much more which is great when one is pressed for time.

And, of course, more scrapbooking and card layouts inspired by the many challenge website out there.

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for all the exciting things to come up on my blog.
