A Little Break hectic and so much sweeter now.

On April 12th, we welcomed a little boy into our lives. My husband and I are excited, thrilled and exhausted, but enjoying every moment.

I hope to be back and blogging soon!

Maternity Photo Session

At the beginning of April, my husband and I decided we would get some maternity photos done.

We asked Adam Van Niekerk of Bare Feet Photography to take some photos of us in & around Granville Island. I loved the photos and the location. We felt so relaxed and the photos are amazing! They were great moments to capture as we prepare for parenthood. See the rest of our photo shoot on Adam's blog.

For a limited time, Adam is offering free photography sessions for those living in the Lower Mainland. So, if you're looking for some great engagement, family, maternity photos or headshots, contact him ASAP as he's booking up fast for May and the summer.

TESC 108

I'm working on my vintage and distressing techniques for this challenge at Taylored Expressions.

TESC 108

I broke out the grays and yellows as they seem quite popular and everywhere at this moment. I stamped and embossed the flower images, colored them in with the Crushed Curry marker and added some dazzling diamonds for bling.

The edges of the paper were distressed and gray ink edged along the sides for effect. The ribbon, too, was distressed with gray ink.

TESC 108 - close

Again, another effort to craft outside my comfort zone.

Thanks for stoppping by!

Raise the Bar - Let's Spring For It!

A spring challenge at Raise The Bar! Gotta love these challenges. They are so unique.

Raise the Bar - Spring

Spring brings about flowers and insects. And, butterflies are the among the prettiest insects out there!
I broke out my neglected butterfly punches along with the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. As well, I used the soon-to-retire colors Close to Cocoa, Orchid Opulence and Barely Banana.

Raise the Bar - Spring close up

It's always sad to see favorites like Close to Cocoa go, but the new SU! color palette is so refreshing and modern. I'm looking forward to playing with all the new colors.

Thanks for looking!

Iron Stampers Competition

A couple of weeks ago, I was privileged to be asked to participate in our Sea to Sky Stampers' Iron Stampers Competition. What did this involve?

The participants were given a suite of items to incorporate into five different projects. The items included epoxy brads from the mini catalogue as well as glassine envelopes and a sheet of designer series paper.

Although I didn't win the competition, it forced me to think outside the box. I would definitely take part again. It was so much fun.

Here's a look at my projects:

A 5 minute card:

& a close-up:

An advanced card (obviously, baby is on the brain)

& a close up of the epoxy wheel & glitter accents:

A 3D item. I created a mini-scrapbook purse which I thought would make a great girlie gift for a little scrapbooker or a cute brag book.

A look at the inside:

A scrapbook page about my best subject, so far, Hollle:

And, finally, an altered item. An alphabet canvas board inspired by an article I had read a couple of years ago in Scrapbook & Cards Today.

I'm planning a future post about how some of these projects were created. Not right now...but soon.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend.

The Color Renovation

Stampin' Up! is redoing the color palette and I'm soooo excited! They are releasing 5 brand new colors and bringing back 10 old favorites from past catalogues.

Take a look at the new colors!

And say goodbye to some others...

I was a little shocked at first, but then realized that I only used a few core colors. SU is keeping Pumpkin Pie, which is the only one that really matters to me! :)

I'll update you as I know more information, but take a look at your stamping supplies and stock up on those refills and cardstock before your fave color goes into retirement.

As always, I am available to take any questions you have. Contact me by e-mail or phone.

Raise the Bar Weather challenge

Raise the Bar Challenge

The challenge at Raise the Bar was to create a card about weather. I didn't have any weather related stamps or stash, so I made a card that showed the results of spring-like and rainy weather - cherry blossoms. In Vancouver, the pink tinged trees are a sign that spring is here!

The Trendy Trees stamp set was a great fit for this card.

Remember, for a limited time, Trendy Trees is available for 20% off. A must-have for any trendy & funky stamper!

TESC 107, plus a new Promo

My card for this week's Taylored Expressions sketch.

TESC 107

I hope you can see it, but if not, I created a layered rose using the image from the Fifth Avenue Floral set. I colored each section using Stampin' Pastels and pieced the elements together using dimensionals.

When Fifth Avenue Floral first came out, it was a must have on my wish list. I never get tired of using this stamp set. It's so elegant and there are so many different ways to use it.

For a limited time, Stampin' Up! is offering select stamp sets at 20% off. Fifth Avenue Floral is included in this offer. These stamp sets are perfect for your spring-themed creations. Order online or contact me for details.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Sketch & Stash # 32

Sketch & Stash 32

My take on Sketch & Stash's current challenge. I used the In Colors Dusty Durango & Soft Suede. The flower is from Prima and the stamp set is a current SU! Level 3 set.

I'd love to say that my stash is slowly eroding, but it's not. It's what every paper crafter goes through.

Have a great weekend!

Who's the April Fool?

The card challenge at Raise the Bar was to create a card in a style that one doesn't normally do. OK.

Here's the card:

Raise the Bar - April fool

I made a fairly simple card (not outside my normal style), but with only cardstock, no embellishments other than ink and with paper lying randomly around my workspace. It bothered me that the colors didn't match exactly, but again, like my post earlier this week, I have to get out of my comfort zone.

This was a great challenge for that.

Thanks for stopping by today!
