Page Maps Sketch Contest

PageMaps BG challenge

I think I'm cutting it close with this sketch challenge. The deadline is the 31st, so I have a little time to spare! :)

Page Maps, if you haven't been heard of it, is an awesome site full of sketch ideas for scrapbooks and cards. Best of all, it's free!

Click this link to see the sketch that Becky designed for the challenge.

365 Cards - Chocolate Challenge

365 Chocolate

For this challenge at 365 Cards, I wanted to try the easel card tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. I've seen it on several blogs and the card is so elegant that I had to give it a try.

Mmmm.....chocolate cupcakes and pink frosting. Yum! Yum! Yum!
The card was made using the following colors: Close to Cocoa, Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. The images were filled in with various markers.

I am very far behind on the 365 Cards challenges. There's already a whole bunch for this week that I haven't tackled. I better get to it.

Thanks for dropping by!

The Goods:

Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo
Punches: Scallop Border Trim, Ticket corner
Accessories: Rhinestone Brad

Inspired Crafters Saturday Challenge #4

SSC #4

I'm on a roll. I decided to create another layout using another challenge from Inspired Crafters. I really enjoy this blog!

Play along with them, if you wish. There are some really great challenges put out each week and there is no deadline (unless stated). This works out well for me since I am a slow scrapper and I get easily distracted.

This challenge was a two-page layout, but I decided on using only the right-hand side of the page.

More scrapbooking fun

ICC1

I think this challenge from Inspired Crafters was supposed to be for a card, but I turned it into a scrapbook page. Again, more photos from our trip to Mexico.

For this layout, I used the Simply Scrappin' kit, In Colour ribbon (Bermuda Bay), the top note die cut and playground buttons. Other items were non-SU, but worked well with the layout.

Thanks for looking!

The Goods:

SU! Materials: Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit, Ribbon (Bermuda Bay), Playground buttons, Top Note die
Other: Letter stickers, photo stickers

Caardvarks - Red Heart Challenge

Caardvarks Red Hearts

This real red and chocolate chip card was created for the Caardvarks Red Heart Challenge.

I was trying to make a card in the shape of a heart like I did in elementary school. :) (I will edit this to show how the card opens up.)

The card was simple to make and I loved using the I {Love} Love jumbo wheel to create a sentiment. And the Sending Love DSP is perfect for this time of year.

Happy Tuesday! Thanks for looking!

Inspired Crafters Ad Challenge

SSC #3

One of my many goals this year is to get caught up with scrapping my vacation photos. However, I often find myself lacking inpsiration.

I used this challenge from Inspired Crafters to get me jump started on this page about our visit to Mazatlan.

The advertisement I used is from Food & Wine magazine which my husband has lying all over the house. I didn't try to use the magazine layout exactly, but rather, pulled the colors (yellow, orange, green, red) to create my page.

Mini Favour Bag

Valentine favor

At my last Sea to Sky Stampers' meeting, we made this cute mini favour bag. The nice thing about this favour bag is that it's only 2" high and you can use up a lot of scraps laying around. Mini!! Perfect for a Hersey kiss or a small candy.

This is great Valentine's gift for kids or co-workers. In a different season, this favour can be used for weddings, baby showers, or whatever your heart desires.

Clean & Simple Sketch #74

Clean & Simple 74

I am in love with this sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping!

For this card, I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots impressions folder. (Love the little dots!!) The image is from the Happy Moments set available through the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Clean & Simple 74 close

I added some glitter to the circles on the top gift box so that the card wasn't too plain. A little bit of paper piercing and popped up using dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today!

The Goods:

Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Real Read, Whisper White
Stamp Set: Happy Moments
Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots impressions folder, paper piercer, Stampin' dimensionals, glitter

Choo-choo...

Valentine's Choo Choo

This is a less girly card to give out on Valentine's Day.  Perfect for a young boy or a big boy. Not too girly. My husband likes that.

This card uses the Whoo's Your Valentine? set and the scallop trim border punch available (for FREE) through Sale-A-Bration.
If you are loving this border punch as much as I am, I would suggest getting it now. The punch will be available for sale in the new catalogue which comes out July 1st.

Don't forget about the Retired Items Sale this Sunday, January 24th from 1 - 3 PM! Lots of patterned paper, cardstock and stamps (of course) will be deeply discounted. All to make room for new goodies and my new baby!

See you there! E-mail me for directions.

The felt flowers coordinate nicely with the Sweet Pea DSP stack. For $32.95, you get 48 sheets of double-sided designs. A great deal.

Progress

I completed my December Daily album last week. It felt great to get this project off the table and start on new ones.

I kept the pages simple and hand journalled everything. It helped to have a photo printer so I could print off my photos at my leisure.

Here's a look at some of the pages in the album:

December 2009 album 002

December 2009 album 003

December 2009 album 004

I used a lot of my stash, particulary the number stickers and die cuts, plus most of my holiday-themed scrapbook paper.

Will I do this project again? Not sure. I enjoyed it, but I was not always in the right frame of mind to do this.

This year, I have a photo-a-day or project 365 theme in mind. So, hopefully, this project will take over the December Daily. I'll keep you updated on this new project as I complete it.

Tea for Two - 365 Cards

365 Tea Time

I came across this card challenge blog ~ 365 Cards ~ purely by accident, but I'm so glad that I did.

This card was made for Day 320 - Tea for Two. I'm not fond of tea or coffee, but I felt this cute cup from the Pun Fun set would work for this challenge. I'm really loving the colors of pinks, reds and browns at the moment. Maybe next week, I'll start using non-traditional combos. We'll see.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Goods:

Stamps: Pun Fun, All Holidays
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Rich Razzleberry, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP
Other stuff: Gold brads, circle punch, scallop trim border punch

Caardvarks New Year Kick-Off Challenge

Caardvarks is one of the many amazing card challenge blogs out there. One of my goals this year is to improve my cardmaking and participating in challenge blogs is a great way to do it.

This exclusive sketch was designed by Becky Fleck, creator of Page Maps, where I was lucky enough to be published in last year!

My card used the Whoo's Your Valentine? set which is brand new in the Idea Book & Catalogue. I also used the new Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to give the card texture. The bottom border was punched out with chocolate chip cardstock using the scallop trim border punch available now through Sale-A-Bration.

You can get this punch for free! Ask me how.

The background paper in the above image is also new. It's called Sending Love. Each sheet is double-sided and it shimmers!!

Scrapbook Catch Up

I finally took an opportunity to start on scrapping our photos from our recent trip to Mexico. There were over 300 photos to sift through.

I used the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit (#115700) as the basis for all the layouts in this album. What I love about this kit (and all Simply Scrappin' Kits) is that they coordinate with a stamp set in the catalogue.

Cabo Pg 1 Cabo pg 2

I didn't use all the kit contents for these two pages, but as I go through the process, I will use the majority of the kit for the remainder of my layouts. And all my stash. Lots of things for me to use up there. :)

Color Inspiration #57

Another card challenge from KWerner. Her color challenges are far and few, so when she puts one up, it's good to just jump right on in.

I used the Manhattan Flower embossing folder and colored the embossed portion with Cameo Coral.

Another Pun Fun Card

If you read yesterday's post, here is another variation of the invitation using the rocket image from the Pun Fun set.

This is a cool invite for a boy's birthday party.

I also made a birthday card from the same image and similar colors.

Pun Fun Invites

I came across this invite and loved it so much that I created one using my Pun Fun stamp set.

I am in love with this colour combo at the moment - orange (of course!), cream and green.

Hip hip invite

The slot punch holds the card nicely in place. Pull out the card and the info is there. Of course, this card can be turned into a birthday card. I love the idea and I'll be posting many more variations.

In Colour Inspiration

One of the nice things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is that I get a magazine called Stampin' Success - exclusive to demos - that is full of fantastic ideas.

I was inspired by Jan Tink's cards that were featured in the magazine. I cased the colour combinations that she used - the in-colours with old olive.

The bright colours are great inspiration for the dreary January that we face.
