Sitting Up

Sketches in Thyme is looking for new design team members and I thought I would throw myself into the mix. This is the sketch that all potential DT members must use to create a new layout.
My take:

Sitting up

I kept this layout pretty simple using a few patterned paper pieces and embellishments. I found a piece of red raffia ribbon in my stash. After seeing so many layouts using twine lately, I decided to tie the ribbon in the same fashion, but a little looser. I glued portions of the ribbon down so that it wouldn't slip off the layout.

The story: At six months, Baby Z mastered sitting up. I took one picture of him without the pillows surrounding him and he was quite proud of himself!

Stickers: Basic Grey
Raffia ribbon: unknown (from my stash)

Thanks for looking!

1st Road Trip

When Baby Z was five and a half months old, we took him on his first road trip to Washington State. We expected a lot of crying, whining and unhappiness - which did happen - but, generally, it was a good trip.

1st Road Trip

Journaling: We went on a trip to Washington State with your grandparents. We made many stops. One of them was Krispy Kreme. No trip is complete without a donut.

1st Road Trip (1)

I love journaling strips! For this layout, I cut out strips in Early Espresso and wrote the journaling with my white gel pen.

Using the button collection: I wanted to create a "road of chocolate" and did that by breaking into my button stash. I gathered all the brown, white and cream buttons in my collection and added them to my page. Each button was finished with linen thread. I wouldn't recommend threading each button if you are pressed for time.

1st Road Trip (2)

Some hardware and glitter. I'm slowly using up the glimmer paper. It's very hard to do. I still have a few sheets left.

365: Week 13

A busy week, but not so many photos.

We went out! That in itself is a miracle. Sure, lots of people go out with their children, but for us, it's an ordeal. Baby Z can be such a monster! And sleep-deprived parents are not always on the ball.

Some of the places we visited: UBC Botanical Gardens, The Vancouver Aquarium & Applebee's.

365: Week 12

Totally behind on this and trying to catch up!

For Week 12, I wanted to explore the photobooth layout. I used a fantastic template created by the fabulous Liz at Paislee Press. I turned the template over by 90 degrees so that the photos would work with my Project Life Album.

Oahu Coast

Memories of Hawaii...

Journaling: We were lucky to visit both the North & South shores of Oahu. The waves were massive. We were impressed & in awe of them.

If you have a lot of photos to scrap or, like me, can't pare down to just a few, consider scaling your photos down to 3x2 inches and printing two photos on one 4x6 print. Use your favorite photo-editing program to scale your photos to the desired size.

Patterned paper: Scenic Route
Letter stickers: American Crafts
All other supplies: Stampin' Up! (I was quite happy to use the Island Floral die on a Hawaiian layout!)

Yummy in the tummy

Today, I'm revealing my first layout as a design team member for Scrap That Baby! This month's first prompt is to create a layout about a messy baby.

So easy! My baby is always messy! He's messy when he eats and plays. Of course, Baby Z always has fun when he's creating mess for Mommy.

The reveal:

Yummy in the Tummy

I decided on a layout that was simple and with only buttons as embellishments. The patterned paper seems to steal the show here, so only a little sponging on the journalling strips and die cut letters were required.

The story: "24 weeks old. You were starting your solid foods diet consisting of rice cereal & carrots. Most of the food ended up on your face & body. I decided to feed you naked to control the mess. You still needed to be in control of the spoon."

Come play along at Scrap that Baby!
