Family Photos

In early October, I decided we needed our first family portraits taken, so I scoured craigslist and found Matt Kennedy. From the moment I contacted him to receiving our photos, he and his team made everything so easy. I love that. Quick, simple, to the point.

We were looking for candid, colourful photos which showed our personality. Matt nailed it!

Here are a couple of shots!

1st Haircut

When Z was 12 months old, we decided it was time to cut his hair. That is, we decided to shave his lovely baby locks all off.

I based this layout on this week's Nuts About Sketches sketch 187.

1st Haircut

I broke into my package of Big Top Birthday DSP for this layout and used up a lot of stashed goodies. I have been hoarding several styles of brads in my embellishment collection like the star brads, the build-a-brads and the bar brads. It was time to use them all for this layout.

1st Haircut

The letters were die-cut using the Big Shot and my favourite alphabet set. Each letter was sponged with early espresso ink and popped-up from the page using dimensionals. I love the effect a pop-up letter gives this layout.

1st Haircut

Finally, the most important piece, the first lock of hair snipped from Z's head. I tied a bashful blue ribbon around it and enclosed the hair in a glassine envelope. He looks like a boy than a baby these days. :(

Join us at Nuts About Sketches and show us your take on Shawn's awesome sketch!

Snow Much Fun Cards

Since I received the Snow Much Fun stamp set, I have wanted to watercolor. So that's what I did.

I used up some of last year's patterned paper and played. That hasn't happened for a while. I won't write too much today as I'm a bit tired. Each card is a variation of the other.

Please enjoy.

Cluck Cluck

This year, Baby Z was a baby chick for Halloween. His cousin, Holle, gave him her old costume which she outgrew a few years ago.

Halloween 2011

The little chick went door-to-door for two blocks and then we called it a night. He got right into the thick of things and picked out his own treats when he was offered a choice. His uncles Matt & Carlo did most of the carrying of him and his candy bucket, but he was quite tired at the end of the night. He was really entranced by all the decorations and the lights. I think he was most excited with seeing older kids trick-or-treating.

He dug through his stash of candy when we got home and picked out a bag of chips. I don't think he'll be eating those any time soon.

Project 365: Week 43

I have been MIA the last few weeks because I was preparing for our big road trip to San Francisco. We went on a week-long road trip. Although we all got sick part way through our vacation, we still had a fantastic time. San Francisco is a great city.

Before reaching California, we stayed overnight in Klamath Falls, OR. Such a gorgeous place. It was so peaceful and a great way to start off our vacation.

San Fran Road Trip

As we played in the playground at the resort, we noticed some deer at the edge of the basketball courts foraging for food. Amazing!

Once we reached San Francisco, we did all things touristy.

Like hanging out in a jail cell in Alcatraz...

Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge...

Chasing pigeons at the Fisherman's Wharf.

Of course, we rode a cable car, ate Chinese food in Chinatown and lots of other tourist attractions. They were all a "must"!

Now, it's back to the grind and getting into the groove. I hope I can find my mojo again.

Thanks for visiting!
